arts partnership program

We provide wraparound support to exciting and community-focused art programs and projects from BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and Disabled artists. This includes: fiscal sponsorship, support for grant writing, artistic thought partnership, and assistance with business planning and project management, and connection with our growing community of artists. We do what we can, so they can worry less about administration and focus more on their art.

genius artist program

This fellowship program recognizes artists of exceptional talent who are driven by a spirit that burns within them to make art despite significant barriers. We work with them over 18 months, providing them with financial resources, thought partnership, professional services, and co-production of an artistic project of theirs, and then we help them share their work with the public.

artist leadership & development workshops (coming soon)

We will present workshops throughout the year that support artists across the full arc of their creative lives, from grants, budgets, and business basics to deep inner work, community healing, and mental health. They will offer practical tools and reflective experiences to help artists sustain both their practice and their wellbeing. This program is directed by Joaquin Lopez.

culture bloc (coming soon)

This program uses cultural exchange and artistic play to bring together different communities that are under threat. As the groups build trust and understanding through arts and conversation, we’ll facilitate conversations about how they can support each other in their lives. In 2026, we’ll focus on local African-American and African immigrant communities in Portland. This program is directed by Mic Crenshaw.

a kitty can prevent suicide (coming soon)

We will soon produce a full theatrical and access-forward production of the original show “A Kitty Can Prevent Suicide,” which is co-written by Genius Artist Lora Lafayette and tells her story of life with schizophrenia. (In 2023, we did a workshop version of this show that was called “Lora Grasshopper Kitty Cat.”)
