Our new Genius Artist Program recognizes artists of exceptional talent who are driven by a spirit that burns within them to make art despite significant barriers. As working artists, we know why the word “genius” shares roots with “genie” and the Arabic “jinn,” and GAP celebrates those under-celebrated artists among us who are so driven.

We’ll work with small cohorts of such artists over 18 months, to:

  • provide them with financial resources, social capital and legal consulting, so they can make their practices and lives more sustainable;
  • provide thought partnership to help them achieve their artistic goals;
    produce a project of theirs;
  • cultivate new audiences for them; and
  • increase their integration into the artistic community.

 

In 2026, we’ll produce a showcase event for each of our Genius Artists, in which they will present their work to the community.
